Mother's Day
The earliest Mother's Day can be traced back to a spring celebration in ancient Greece and to England's "Mothering Sunday" in the 1600s when servants would have the day off and were encouraged to spend the day with their mothers. In the United States, President Woodrow Wilson officially proclaimed Mother's Day a national holiday in 1914, the holiday falling on the 2nd Sunday in May.
